Ammonia
Collect 500 ml or 10 g of sample in glass or plastic. Preserve with sulfuric acid.
Cation Exchange Capacity
Collect 100 g of sample in glass or plastic. No preservative required.
Carbon Oxygen Demand (COD)
Collect 50 ml or 2 g of sample in glass or plastic. Preserve with sulfuric acid.
Chloride
Collect 100 ml or 10 g of sample in glass or plastic. No preservative required.
Cyanide
Collect 500 ml or 10 g of sample in glass or plastic. Preserve with sodium hydroxide.
Dissolved Metals
Collect 250 ml of sample in glass or plastic. No preservative required.
Fluoride
Collect 50 ml or 10 g of sample in plastic. No preservative required.
Hardness
Collect 100 ml or 10 g of sample in plastic. Preserve with nitric acid.
Hexavalent Chromium
Collect 100 ml of sample in plastic. No preservative required.
Kjeldahl Nitrogen TKN
Collect 500 ml of sample in glass or plastic. Preserve with sulfuric acid.
Metals
Collect 250 ml or 10 g of sample in plastic. Preserve with nitric acid.
Mercury
Collect 250 ml of sample in plastic. Preserve with nitric acid.
Nitrate
Collect 100 ml of sample in glass or plastic. No preservative required.
Nitrite

Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)
Collect 1 L of sample in glass. No preservative required.

TOX
Collect 500 ml of sample in amber glass. Preserve with sulfuric acid.
Dissolved Solids

Suspended Solids

Volatiles
Collect 40 ml or 10 g of sample in glass (no air). Preserve with sodium thiosulfate.
